Getting started
How long does setup take?
Minutes. Create your account, add employees (or import a CSV), and either share your kiosk link or have staff sign in on their phones. No installation, no contracts.
Do my employees need to download an app?
No. JobPunch runs in any web browser. Employees can add it to their phone's home screen (it's a progressive web app) for one-tap access, but there's nothing to install from an app store.
What can I use as a time clock?
Any phone, tablet, or computer with a browser. For a shared wall kiosk, an inexpensive Android tablet is ideal (it also supports tap-to-clock key cards). An iPad works great for PIN + photo.
Clocking in & out
How do employees clock in?
At a shared kiosk they enter a 4-digit PIN — with an optional photo. They can also tap an RFID/NFC key card, or clock in from their own phone (Pro and up).
Can I require a photo at clock-in?
Yes. Turn on photo capture and every punch includes a snapshot, so you always know who actually clocked in.
Can I make sure they're actually on site?
Yes — set a geofence and phone punches only count within range of your location.
What do I need for key cards?
A 13.56MHz USB reader and MIFARE cards on an Android tablet. Open
Settings → Hardware for the exact reader and cards we recommend. A PIN always works as a backup.
Someone forgot their PIN — what now?
PINs default to the last 4 digits of the employee's phone number, and an admin can reset a PIN anytime from the employee's profile.
Do you track lunch breaks?
Two ways: employees can clock out and back in for a break (that time isn't counted), or you can turn on automatic break deduction in Settings — for example, automatically deduct 30 minutes from any shift longer than 6 hours.
Pricing & billing
How much does it cost?
Free for up to 5 employees, forever. Beyond that it's per active employee: Pro $3, Business $5 per employee per month — or pay yearly and get 2 months free ($30 / $50 per employee a year).
Is the free plan really free?
Yes — up to 5 active employees, no credit card, no time limit.
Can I pay by bank instead of card?
Yes. Card or bank transfer (ACH) — the price is the same either way.
How does per-employee billing work?
You only pay for active employees. Deactivate someone and they stop counting toward your bill right away — and all their records are kept.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Anytime. Upgrade or downgrade from the Billing page (changes are prorated automatically), or cancel and drop back to Free. No contracts, no cancellation fees.
Payroll & exports
Does JobPunch run payroll or file taxes?
No — we track time accurately and hand clean totals to your payroll provider. A direct QuickBooks connection is in the works, with Gusto next.
How do I get hours into payroll?
Export a CSV, or a QuickBooks- or Gusto-formatted file, for any pay period — regular and overtime hours included.
Does it calculate overtime?
Yes. Overtime is tracked and shown separately, at 1.5× on pay estimates and exports.
What pay periods are supported?
Weekly, every two weeks, twice a month, or monthly — and you can set per-employee pay rates.
Can employees see their pay?
They see their hours and an estimated paycheck. Prefer hours only? Turn on “hide pay estimates” and they'll never see dollar amounts.
Scheduling & time off
Can I build schedules?
Yes — weekly schedules with a clean, print-ready page for the break-room wall.
Time off and PTO?
Employees request time off in the app and you approve it. PTO accrues based on each employee's hire date.
What about holidays?
One click adds all US federal holidays for the year, and you can edit the list.
Mobile, language & access
Can employees clock in from their phone?
Yes (Pro and up) — employees punch from their own phone, with geofence and optional photo.
¿Hablan español?
Yes — the entire employee experience is available in Spanish.
Do employees stay logged in?
Yes — they sign in once with their phone number and stay signed in.
Locations, team & your data
Can I manage multiple locations?
Yes (Business) — run multiple sites, each with its own kiosk.
Can I add managers?
Yes — invite team members as owner, admin, or manager, each with the right level of access.
Is my data private and secure?
Your data is yours and we never sell it. The kiosk hides your roster by default, and photos and records are admin-only. You can export everything anytime, with about three years of history kept.
Support
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
From inside the app: admins use “Report a bug / idea” in the More menu, and employees tap “Report a problem or idea” at the bottom of their app. It comes straight to us, and bugs are prioritized.
How do I get help setting up?
Reach out through the in-app feedback, or to your installer. Local setup and key-card installs are available in the South Bend area.
